From castle to castle

My land, Emilia, is considered flat, fertile and full of good food.

Agreed! But it is also mountainous, rich in history and beautiful castles.

Yes, the landscape changes completely when seen from up there. From the tower of a castle that protects a medieval village.

This weekend I am taking you with me to Montecuccolo Castle in the Modena area.

Refurbished and made into a museum inside it coexists medieval inscriptions and Raffaele Biolchini's modern sculptures, rock spurs built into the inner walls and Giuseppe Ricci's precious cribs.

At the top of the tower, the Frignano Wildlife Museum brings you into direct contact with the animals that live in the area. It is not difficult to imagine in the lush vegetation surrounding the village, the royal eagle, the wolf or the marten.

Arriving at the top of the donjon, the biggest surprise: the museum of crosses and the craftsman who built them and explains them, one by one.

And like any castle worthy of the name, there is a tavern. Working!
